Who’s KATIE?
I’m Katie! I’m an industrial and graphic designer who specializes in packaging. My ability to deliver on both 3D structural design (from concept to manufacturing) and graphic design gives me a uniquely deep understanding of holistic packaging experiences. And frankly, I just love packaging! I have my own little studio that I call Wyabago and work with all types of clients.
My superpower is generation - I never have a lack of ideas, and often show a wide variety of concepts to clients. I love working with people to help them manifest their visions and can usually find ripe areas for exploration that were previously unconsidered. With me, you’ll always get a “wild card” concept.
In addition to designing, I teach. I teach college-level design courses as adjunct faculty for SCCA. I also lead private and group art classes such as hand lettering and basic drawings through Spacecraft. And I volunteer as a skill-sharer with Neighborhood House. Teaching is a way to further share my love of being creative, and I love the challenge of translating knowledge into digestible coursework.
What’s WYABAGO?
Wyabago is an acronym for the age-old quote, “Whatever you are, be a good one”. It’s a quote that first came to my attention on a greeting card I bought for my dad’s birthday. Though he had never used the exact words, it was a sentiment he certainly taught.
As an independent creative, I tend to wear a lot of proverbial hats, but this concept keeps me present. No matter what I’m creating or what role I”m playing in the process, I put my heart into it and strive to make it not only good but great.
